Patti Parsons

My paintings involve a mixture of various media upon a matte translucent support, as well as, canvas, or wood panel. A visual dialogue is revealed through the addition of wax pencil, acrylic paint, erasure and mono-printing techniques. These conflicting interests reflect the unfolding organic life cycle — moments of growth and decay emerging within the scope of instinctive impulses.

The incubation of my childhood was spent absorbing and unfolding within the milieu of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. I graduated with a BFA from nearby James Madison University, immersed in painting, printmaking and alternative processes in photography; all of which remain and inform my practice. I am currently in the midst of earning a graduate degree in liberal studies at Wesleyan University.

I live and work in the lush Sonoran Desert of Arizona, while expanding my horizons with frequent sojourns to New York City and abroad.
